Collision Schools Receive Over Half a Million Dollars via CREF’s 2024 Benchmark Grants to Support More Than 4,000 Future Repairers

When a large group of people work together for a common goal, they can make a HUGE impact! Collision repair organizations have proven the truth of this sentiment through their continuing support of the Collision Repair Education Foundation’s (CREF) Benchmark Grant program.

Thanks to the generosity multiple industry partners – both small and large – the Foundation is proud to announce that 80 collision schools will receive $536,000 in 2024 Benchmark Grant funding to financially support their efforts to educate the collision industry’s future workforce and ensure students graduate with the knowledge and skills to successfully fill the entry-level positions for which collision repair businesses so desperately need qualified help. Based on current enrollment numbers, these donations will immediately benefit the educational pursuits and make a difference in the lives of over 4,000 students training in these programs this year alone, as well as students who will enroll in upcoming years.

“Congratulations to the 2024 Benchmark Grant recipients!” says CREF Executive Director Brandon Eckenrode. “The Foundation is incredibly grateful to our industry partners for their continued support. I would also like to specifically recognize the instructors who put forth the time and energy to apply for the grants, an effort that shows their commitment to bettering their collision programs and, in turn, providing a quality technical education for their students that prepares them for entry-level employment in this industry. Collision repair programs – and those that move them forward – are the first line to supplying the industry’s future workforce, and these grants will help instructors with their limited program budgets as they build and innovate to meet the industry’s needs. CREF is pleased to play the unique role of directing industry support to collision programs in need and being a part of these students’ journeys into an exciting career path.”

“The Collision Repair Education Foundation is proud to be able to fund so many 2024 Benchmark Grants, which will have a huge impact on the educational pursuits of thousands of future industry professionals,” agrees Melissa Marscin, CREF Director of Operations and Impact. “Thank you to the many industry supporters and grant sponsors for their dedication to supporting the next generation of collision repairers through their educational institutions! With that support, these schools will have the funds to better train the industry’s future workforce and ensure their students will have a great advantage when starting the next part of their collision journey.

“Collision repair training programs are facing tremendous budgetary pressure, making it difficult for many instructors to even maintain their program at current capabilities, let alone invest in increasing their abilities to satisfy the industry’s current and future workforce needs,” she adds. “The goal of the Foundation’s Benchmark grants is to recognize schools that have been doing an outstanding job in educating students in collision repair…but need some financial assistance to improve their program’s teaching materials and equipment. CREF is honored to have the opportunity to bridge this financial gap and to make a difference in the lives of the students studying collision repair – thanks to the generosity of our industry, which enables us to actively ensure high school and college collision school programs graduate well-trained and capable collision students who are prepared for entry-level employment.”
